Ok so I was trying to change the rear number plate light on my 2007 (New shape) Jaguar XKR and managed to break one of the plastic lens cover clips in the process.

Jaguar have told me they only sell the rear number plate lens covers as whole light units which are £75!!!

All I need is a bloody piece of plastic and Im sure these are common across some Jaguar or maybe even Ford cars

Is there anyway to find out with which other car this lens cover would be shared with?

I'd take it into your local Jaguar parts department and say 'Have you got one of these'?

Nopes none of them frown

Ok so took the car i to my local dealer and there is more than meets the eye!!!! Jag don't do this part number anymore and the new part means the whole back number plate section needs to be updated!! This includes the Jaguar silver beading above the number plate and both sets of lights...a total cost of a lovely £450!!!!! Just because of a broken clip!

Emailed Jag cusomter services but no goodwill except an apology! This is fking ridiculous

Maybe time to engage Bodging Mode...

I can't picture the part but can it be gaffer-taped/Araldited/replaced with a cunning construction of paperclips/double-sided foam tape?
