is this normal found it by accident xk8 traction

went out in my xk8 , did my shop. then noticed id left my camera infront of the selector infront of the radio!! in one sweeping action I grabbed the camera as I was turning the ignition on, and also due to the position my hand also pushed onto the traction control switch as turning the engine over. The traction unavail warning came on and stayed on all way home and nothing changed with pushing the traction switch.
Having got home turned off and restarted all was fine. Tried again holding the traction switch in as starting.... yes it disabled the traction again Resets on re start is this normal or a glitch in the program? may be a reconised way to disable ??? any views guys

You can disable the traction control with the switch at any time

It wouldn't usually show on the dash (unless later versions do) but the light in the switch will light up

Again on restarting the engine it will revert to on

thanks d dont think i explained well the switch does turn the traction on and off as normal but when the whole system was diabled (as described earlier) the switch was in operative with no lights until i restarted the car. by doing what i did it knocks out the traction system and warning on the dash
