Hi guys, has anyone had a go at replacing the headlining board on a x300 or x308? The instructions make it sound so simple.............there has to be a catch !!!!!!!!!!!

I sold an X350 last year to a customer and it needed a new headliner before we delivered it. It took one of the best Jaguar techs in the USA more than a day..........

Is your car a SWB or LWB?

I considered having this done when I owned an X308. At the time I was told that if the car is a LWB the headlining can be put in through the rear doors. If it's a SWB this isn't possible and either the front or rear screen has to come out.

I didn't go ahead in the end. But would be interested to know what is involved.

I was in the team of guys who wrote the jaguar wsm and labour times for this. If i recal correctly, im pretty sure the best thing to do was remove one of the front seats to get it through one of the door apartures. It was a while ago though!!

On x300 (and x308 I'll presume). It comes out the passenger door with the door card removed. I've a headlining on my breaker car that only very recently someone is interested in...and in how to replace it....it could even be the op? One thing for sure - at no time does it come out the front or rear window because they are bonded and you'd need to replace the glass.

The headlining in my X300 is sagging. I had a quote for the work, and they explained that if they take all the seats out, it can just get through the back door aperture on an angle. The other option was to take the front/rear screen out, but either would have worked out more expensive. Sadly it isn't a cheap or easy job.

Remove the centre console and passenger front door and with a bit of help it will come out, I took the front seats out as well just to give me some more space, on the x300 the doors have the quick release hinges so getting doors off is quite straight forward, have fun!
