XJ8 (X308) Front wing mounted indicators

Before I go prodding and poking about... and poossibly damaging my lovely paint!!! Do any of you here know how to remove the rectangular orange indicator repeaters that are recessed into the front wings?
I am guessing from an inital look round that masking tape applied about all the edges and the a gentle push from maybe the leading or rearmost edge with a plastic trim tool might do the trick. Or am I wide of the mark here and is it a "remove the plastic inner wing guard" chore?

Push the lens downwards to compress the spring clips on the inside of the front wing then remove it.
