New Jaguar XJL colour question

Friend of mine is looking at buying a new XJL Portfolio and is talking about speccing it in Black Amethyst with ivory leather, black upper environment and carbon fibre veneer rather than wood. I am concerned that this will get a kicking come resale time although I am sure it will look great. What do you guys think?

Colour/interior combo seems quite sensible. But these are expensive options which you will never get back in cash terms over regular ultimate black/ivory with piano interior.

If you can afford a new one, then buy the spec you want.

The paint is £700 and the carbon is a no cost option so he isn't worried about that come resale just if people will buy one in what is in essence dark purple metallic and without wood

I like that Dark Red, Cavier I think its called, but just saw a white XJ and thought WOW. What ever combo he gets I am sure he will love it...

I have got a LWB Portfolio demo in Black Amerthyst at the moment and it looks stunning. So much so that we have ordered one for stock. Not in the office to check but im sure its ivory with jet upper & carbon fibre too....

Certainly not a colour / spec combo i would be worried about re future values

I would be shocked if a dealer offered a premium part ex based on that exterior colour. I think that they would say the opposite - most people have herd mentality and want black or grey tones.

For example what percentage of Astons are in any colour scheme other that black grey
silver with a black interior.

You take a kicking on XJ's anyway.

Do you have any pics of the one you have? he hasn't yet seen one in that colour only an XF

OK cool colour is much darker than I thought. I think he is doing the right thing then.
