Hi, can anyone tell me what I should expect to pay, and maybe someone who can do the job then please do let me know. (head gasket gone)

Cheers

Worst case was my bill of just under £3k for a rebuild of my supercharged XJR engine with head gasket failure last year.

Final bill included some head work at Scholar race engines as well ;-)

I'd budget about £2k if the heads have to come apart, as the cams are a bd to shim up.

If it's just the head gaskets, then I'd guess at about £1k...

I am doing one right now of the XK variety..... it's costing him about £2.5K but at least £750 of that is parts, the engine was particularly dirty and time is needed to clean it, new tensioners, chain etc

Also I am using 4.2 head gaskets rather than 4.0 which means buying the head set almost part by part which ups the price a bit but for a better type, all valves removed and reground

My dad has just paid £1700 for head gaskets & head skim on his 3.2 V8. He had the chains done a few years back so they weren't done. Also included a stubborn stud removal by an engineering co. down the road from the indy.
