Poor throttle response from XJ8 V8 1999 car ???

This car feels like it does not have any torque, no failures or warnings on dash, gearbox and throttle body also changed recently, drives great otherwise - just compared to my neighbors V8 the initial feel from the pedal just feels so flat, any ideas will be greatly appreciated. Thanks Danny
Assuminmg the replacement throttlebody is set up and working correctly OK there's a couple of things you can check.
As mentioned the first is the airflow meter. This is mounted in the air intake trunking to the left of the air filter box and secured by two phillips screws. Undo the electrical connector, remove the screws and lift it out.
You'll see a small brown glass bulb suspended by two wires sticking out the bottom, and if you turn the afm upside down there's another two wires buried deep inside the tube. Don't touch either but spray lots of carburettor or switch cleaner over and around the wires. Blow dry and repeat untill you've got all the black deposits off. Then replace.
Another thing to check is the throttle cable adjustment. Make sure the throttle pedal is pushed right down to the floor and reach round to the side of the throttlebody and feel for any slack in the cable or any further travel available.
If both those are OK then it's time for diagnostics. You may need a throttle reset on the Jaguar WDS system throttle to restore the correct relationship between the throttle pedal, throttle position sensor and gearbox electronics.
