XJS Door locking mechanism and braking question.
Discussion
Hi guys.
I went to view a 1994 4.0 XJS yesterday. Sound car except for a couple of points. The passenger door wouldn't open and apparantly hasn't for some time, so was wondering if any one could shed some light on the possible reason for this.Easy central locking fix? Also when braking the car tended to vear to the right, although was fine when driving normally.
All the best

My XJ 12 sometimes refuses to unlock its passenger door, although all I do is lower the window and lift the out side door handles and fiddle with the inside lock, whilst pushing the door in (carefully) with my leg. I thinks it an aligment issue, between the door and the body work, nothing too serious I think, but I still have not managed to eradicate the problem without affecting the panel alignment. Braking, possibly you are out of alignment or camber???

Veering under braking alone is probrably either a sticky caliper or seriously worn discs and/or pads. Geometry would have to be miles out before it affected braking action and if it really was that bad you'd have other problems too like loss of self centering action on the steering or pulling to one side all the time. The car would feel horrible to drive and your tyres would have some novel and interesing wear patterns too...
