Hope you chaps maybe able to assist - firts time in the Jag Forums.

Not had my car long, its a SC car, and very impressed with it.

My question - do they all go direct to 2000-2200 revs on cold start up?

Thanks in advance for any helpfull responses. smile

Mine starts up at 2000 also for a few seconds then drops to about 1200 then to about 800 after one minute.
I would prefer it not to rev as high on start up. Cold engines and wear rates etc. Car's just been serviced which didn't change anything.

Hi,

I have a 2011 R and it revs up to 2000 on start-up.

I'd guess the idle control valve defaults to fully open till it registers revs so the engine effectively gets a bit of a bootfull as it first turns over? Seems common on most injected cars I've driven tbh.

The X308 does this too - though not to any great extent. It's purpose is to speed up the heating of the upstream lambda sensor to get the cold start emissions down as quickly as possible.
