i thought it didnt look bad until i saw the arse end.

seen quite a few cabrio conv xj40's before, and they generally all look a bit wrong. though there is a white one in Australia that seems work ok. see if i can fid the picture?

they can get it right when they want to. A concept which was put into storage and forgotten about, no running gear. Consequently re-engineered and drivable.

Why would you go to all that trouble of doing a reasonable looking job of cutting the roof off and strengthening it (if the description is correct about doors opening etc) and then do that to the rear?

Love the Daimler Corsica concept, a real shame that wasn't put into production.

I don't mind the concept, I think a chop-top Forty would be quite fun. The rear end on that though, wtf?! The sloping back end of the standard car is lovely, I can't believe someone though that would be an improvement!

It looks superb IMHO. Surely Jaguar could have sold those all day long.

Anyone know why it didn't make it into production? Was it ever seriously considered, or was it only ever intended to be a concept?

The funny thing is, at one point, I gave serious consideration to building one of those. The truth is I'm surprised nobody has done it yet. It really doesn't look like it would be all that tough to do.

At the end the calculations came up to close to $30,000... So I passed on the project.
