hi again happy new year. ok re my prev forum on a plate didnt go thru as has doubts re the seller few things not right!! Now found a genuine seller, plate is currently on a bike. They are happy to either put on a retention cert for me or if I send all my relevent docs will arrange to have all the paper work sorted and allocated to my car. sounds good however im still waiting for the v5 back from dvla !!!! (5 weeks so far) so can see this as an issue, seller is a reputable dealer in a small village with good reputation. Whats the best and safest way foreward in your views many thanks yet again

The "best and safest way" is obviously to have the number put onto retention for you, but that will cost another £25 and might delay getting the number onto the car a little. Depends if you trust the vendor.

You probably need to ring the DVLA and chase up the v5, if they've lost your documents then you will need
V62 - Application for a vehicle registration certificate
