My 54 plate Jaguar XKR (30k miles) has developed a noise similar to a slipping fan belt accompanied by a thump/clapping noise. This is only in evidence on a morning start and only for about 30 seconds. I have had the belt system checked and, unable to locate the source of this noise, and thinking it might be the Alternator Belt Tensioner Assembly, which is a sealed unit, have replaced this. Unfortunately this has not solved the problem. Can anyone suggest what might be causing this noise?

I had this some years back in my 2001 XKR. It was the ancillary drive belt making the noise when cold, replacing it solved the problem.
