Anyone have any experience with the following !

Parked the car up. About an hour later heard the alarm going, and the boot slightly ajar. So closed boot, remote locking won't work as the car now think the boot is open ! (it's electric boot assist on the XJ, of which the motor seems to be working)

Locked the car on the key, about an hour later, alarm going ... boot slightly ajar !

So I am guessing the lock/latch mechanism is faulty ... but anyone else come across this ??

Thanks

Not had it with mine, or ever even heard of this cropping up anywhere else.

Its interesting that the alarm goes off, suggesting that the car thinks the boot is closed. Therefore I think you're right that its a latch problem, but mechanical as opposed to electrical, as if the latch jaws aren't gripping the U-shaped bracket on the lid properly.

When you sort it please let us know what it was!

I put the same post on the jaguar US forum, and got a couple of replies re boot lock actuator being at fault (apparently has 2 microswitches inside, prone to fail)

Anyway, s/h part £25 from Eurojag, 1/2 hour to fit (would have been quicker but had to keep running my hands under the hot water tap to feel my fingers)

All seems well.
