I have replaced the temp water temp sensor but still get the engine management light on which then swiftly leads to another failure of the gearbox going into 'Limp' mode, the two may not be connected but can anyone steer me in the right direction to get these to items fixed?

Thanks

Temperature is out of range. Can be caused by a sticking thermostat or faulty sensor. There may be 2 sensors, 1 for the gauge and 1 for the pcm.

any time you have a limp mode on a 4.0 xj40 gearbox, the first thing to do is clean the multi-pin connectors, first on the LH side of the gearbox, and again inside the car at the TCM, if needs be.
the on on the gearbox can get corrosion on it with it being under the car and exposed to the elements.
do a battery disconnect and reconnect to dump the fault code. make sure you have your radio code and dont leave the keys inside the car incase the central locking locks all the doors.
