no info yet, but dont take too much notice of the styling, they've used Xf panels they reckon it may look like this, but further details can be found at http://www.carmagazine.co.uk/Secret-new-cars/Searc...

Honey I shrunk the Jag

To be honest, it has a slight wiff of "I cant afford a full size jaguar" about it

I take it this is the X-type replacememt and will be of similar size?

V8 would be interesting, but I can guarantee itll be limited to the supercharged V6, if they even put a petrol in it..

C'mon Jag, must try harder. I don't want a small XF, but a Jag version of the ultra macho C-Class Merc........plus make it a coupe.....

on this note, I have been speaking to a good freind of mine tonight who works at Jaguar.
There are rumblings that the XK is being "removed from production" and a coupe-limo is on the way.

Looks wise, think of the XJ with only 2 doors and a lower ride height/roof line
power is rumoured, if this car comes into production, to be a new 6 litre V12..

One can only imagine what the price will be though.. im thinking somewhere between a lot and "holy mother of god"

but i agree.. jag must try harder with the above car

The test mule is just a butchered XF with a new chassis underneath so not representative. The Car magazine render is exactly that, their guess of what it "may" look like so hardly fair to slate Jaguar when it's nothing to do with them.

Personally, I can't wait for this as they have all but confirmed a coupe, saloon, estate and cabrio version with a much wider range of engines.

With our £40k company car / demo limit it should put me into something really quite lairy as I really don't need the rear space of the XF at my stage of life!

Shame to ditch XK, but if the F-Type steals all the bizniz from any new £100k+ XK, then there will be no point. In which case, dust off the X-75 proto, & stick a nice new V10 in it & sell for £120k as the halo model. smile

Looks pretty good to me .. bet Ford regrets selling when it had so many
good products in the pipeline.

I think Jag need a 2+2 coupe. Here in surrey I am seeing lots of new XK's and I doubt that the people driving those cars would accept a 2 seat cabin.. an XJ coupe is a great Idea, but then again a CL is not an SL.. A new XK could be priced above the F-type but it must include a 3.0 D as well as the RR 5.0 D. I'd love a coupe, could afford a used XK5.0 but no way my gaffer is going to pay for my fuel bills, he will though if I bought a 630D....

have you all noticed the trend now, for car manufacturers to essentially make "one car design". then make it smaller or bigger.
JLR are at the forefront of this.
range rover, range rover sport, range rover evoque.....and they all have the same "face"
what was wrong with having models that looked different to each other?

realistically, the smallest cheapest version of each manufacturer is the one that sells the mots. as people want the badge more than anything

This is very interesting, especially the bit about the engine.

Presumably any 6.0 V12 would have to be supercharged, in order to be a compelling proposition over the existing supercharged 5.0 V8. That would suggest upwards of 650BHP and would also suggest that such a car would be aimed at the likes of the Rolls Royce Wraith and Bentley Continental.

I do see the logic. Perhaps the F-type and XK are felt to be too close to each other. Perhaps it is better to reposition the XK much higher up the scale, giving the F-type room to expand later on.

However, for Jaguar to design and build a new V12 it would presumably need to go into more than just one model. Dare we hope for the return of the Double Six? smile

As much as I wish for Jaguar to produce V12, realistically, I dont believe its going to happen... Its all about engine downsizing these days and throwing money into developing a big thirsty V12 that would become obsolete in few years time is not what JLR can afford to do at the moment.

Just thought I would update you all a little.
Received an e-mail today from my "man on the inside"

"Scott,
As far as we can tell, the V12 will come in several different variants, An N/A 6 litre with around 560bhp, a supercharged which is to have around 650/700 bhp and a twin turbo diesel. No BHP figure but H/Q have stated 'torgue of around 800 ft lbs' depending on how its tuned.
This engine will be a special order on the new super coupe.
Standard engines are as you said, the s/c V6 and V8 and the same diesel as the xj.

I have also been sent a few specs on the new car:
Height - 1400 mm
Length - 4998 mm
width - 1894 mm
GVW - 2201 KG

I am still waiting for pictures of the car, H/Q havent released any yet, they are refining the ideas to give us all a better idea.

Also, to answer your last question, prices start at £65,000 for the small diesel and the S/C V6
For the V8 youll be looking around £71,000
The prices are higher for the V12 as its a special order.. we have only been given the price of the S/C engine, thats going to be around £125,000
However, the car does come with a lot more kit as standard. We think this is going to become Jaguars special edition and have very limited numbers.

Thanks for your e-mail mate, Ill keep you up to date."

So to be honest with you all, it looks as if we are all going to receive a brand new flagship coupe

Cant wait
