XF, warranty, sat nav fault

My 3yr Jag warranty expired 26th March, and my extended warranty through Jag main dealer expired 25th April. Around half-way between those days, the sat nav exhibited an issue where the screen froze and the entire integrated console rebooted. It was fine after that, but on it going in to be checked on the same day the extended warranty expired, the dealer said they had found a fault logged to check wiring. They did this, and did not find a wiring fault, but became aware of a service bulletin saying that if the sat nav freezes a software update should be applied. The extended warranty company have said this is not covered, and the dealer is trying to bill me £100 or so. Do people feel I have a case for Jaguar to issue a goodwill honour to this cost? Surely this is the case, being as it is a) not a fault, it was a residual issue in the software code b) the issue happened days after the Manufacturers warranty expired c) the entire thing is leaving quite a bad taste d) Jag are supposed to be top rated for customer satisfaction
Agree the software update should be FOC on a known issue, irrespective of warranty, but seeing as you are out of it, then they have every right to charge you.
If it was me I would haggle on the £100 and get them to agree if the software update fixes it then you'll pay, if it doesn't then it's free.
The trouble is these days, the cars are never 'fixed', but components get replaced by 'technicians' until the problem is rectified. An expensive prospect with no warranty......

well yes it's true. Often it's the components which are poor quality, and replacing them just replaces with a new yet exactly the same quality item. Unless the component manufacturer somehow updates the component to a better quality then this very rarely causes a permanent fix, unless you dial in a bit of luck. Usually, and especially the case with the XF, they only update the components and 'learn' lessons with facelift models. Many of the niggles have gone on the newer one... You could argue that the ropey software was there when your vehicle was in warranty. Nothing is going to wear out with it, so it should be a FOC fix.
