I've yet to see any car worth buying at a specialist dealer - best bet by far IMO is to look at carsandclassic, classicsarsforsale, the Jaguar World magazine, jagads (if it's still running) and join the Jaguar Enthusiasts' Club to access the club's classifieds.

Ideally you need to buy a car from an enthusiast in a private sale who has spent time and money looking after it and treated it with respect, rather than some shagged out ex main dealer part exchange some self appointed Jaguar specialist is flogging for top money.

I agree with Steve

There are a lot of cars out there with a lot of rust and problems

As Steve said join the www.xkec.co.uk and see what their members are selling, also some good advice there as well

I've got a pre '99 one, in my opinion they look better than the later ones as no additional stick on plastic and chrome. Seats look better too.
