Hello Mate of mine has recently purchased a Jag XKR. There is a problem with the outta plastic headlight covers, at the top of them the clear plastic is sort of frosted and looks like cracked glazing on a old tea cup. Is this common? If so can the covers be flat sanded and polished back to remove the cracked glazing?

Hi Fatboy

It must be possible as I have just watched Wheeler Dealer trading up from last week and Mike is in Dubai and he had 4x4 'detailed' and they did exactly that. The plastic headlights get sandblasted out there and they sanded them clear with paste and a grinder.

Can be done by wet sanding the plastic covers using fine grade W&D then machine polishing. Most good detailers will do this job, not sure how much it'll cost, but they look great once done.
