Anyone know if the car's software can be updated to recognise newer phones? I've just got a windowz phone (HTC 8S) and my car can't 'see it' when the phone is in Bluetooth mode.

Thanks smile

If no joy on here, I'm sure someone asked this very question a while back on 'XF FORUM'.
Can't remember the outcome I'm afraid.

ETA: http://jaguar45.nextgen-technology.net/Vehicles/?c... Any good?

What year is your car?

I've got an 09 plate and it recognised my Nexus 4.

Doesn't the phone pair to the car? Not sure but when I did pair them I was expecting to see a device name and all that came up was a series of numbers like a serial code.

Search from the phone rather than from the car. I've never not been able to pair a phone to an XF, even an 09.

That's what I did in the end and all works fine now smile All I had to do with the old phone was stick it in Bluetooth mode and it connected/docked straight away hence the 'huh?'.

Really? How so? In my case, it was user error rather than the car smile

well it only holds quite a low number of contacts for a start, which doesn't really work for business users. I think it maxes out around 150 or so (and accounts for every number within a contact as a separate entry), and at last count my blackberry had 1000 entries. Some handsets that are supposedly tested and fine are not.

You guys just need to trade up and get a 12. The Bluetooth and sat nav are fantastic and voice activated. The old system is archaic in comparison. I just traded my 12 XJ for a 13 XKR and the nav / Bluetooth / audio went back a generation! The 12 / 13 XJ and XF system is far superior.

i've tried it, various loan cars from jag dealers etc, and whilst it is better i'd stop short of saying it's actually decent. Just about everything is better in the facelift, I agree though.
