I'm quite disappointed with the D-for-Dunce mode.
The handling when you have the flag (I assume that means you are in safe mode, after all if you are on the sea flags generally mean safe) along with the lovely yellow light that says you can't skid (it even shows two big skid marks underneath a car to remind you it's all in control), is terrible.
Just look at these shots LS3 took. It shows the issue. I'm thinking of taking it back it's so bad, but Steve did confirm there was snow on the inside corner and it was snowing a blizzard (as you can see in the photos), so perhaps I just need to understand how to put it into "snow" mode?

Thanks to LS3 for the pictures ( http://www.facebook.com/ls3photos )

joust, how long did you hold the DSC button to get the car to drift like this? Is that DSC fully off?
My new (to me) 2009 XKR has two-stage DSC: a two-second press is TracDSC and ten seconds gives the full monty. I can't tell much difference between DSC on and TracDSC when pulling away in the wet. The system still intervenes very sharply and completely in both modes with no opportunity for a dab of oppo even in the TracDSC setting, and certainly no room for slides like yours.
It seems inappropriate to go for the full DSC off mode on the Queen's highway so I haven't tried that yet.

I had a play with TracDSC and you can get the end out a bit but it certainly does rein it in. No "sharpness" to the intervention either, just progressive amounts of slide angle from almost none with DSC on, to "a bit" with TracDSC to "hanging out there" with it off.It seems inappropriate to go for the full DSC off mode on the Queen's highway so I haven't tried that yet.
Whilst I drive many performance cars without any DSC on the road, I do personally just tend to leave it fully on when out and about as I'm personally not a great fan of hanging the end out on the road.
Joust you really are acting thick if you didn't know that.
You should also know that the yellow light with the car and two black
lines means that you have engaged track mode. Railway track.
You may now take your hands off the wheel completely and drive
as fast as you like everywhere. It's fun. Honestly.
