Hello all,

Im toying with the idea of getting an x350 XJR - i have previously owned an 2001 X308 XJR, so have been through quite a bit of drama.

Whats the pros and cons going for the newer one? say a 2005.

I see they are about 200kg lighter and 30 more bhp so i assume a decent bit quicker?

What about the box is it now a 6 speed?

Any advice appreciated

The X350 can suffer from paint problems causing the paint to bubble and peel. Look very closely on the leading edges and anywhere there is a sharp crease in the body.

All issues with the earlier X308 V8 engine are now sorted.

The box is a ZF6 speed - still "sealed for life" 'tho.

Body build quality in some areas such as paint finish, panel gaps and flatness on some cars and minor trim parts ought to be better then examples I've seen on a car of that price. I've driven two with signs of propshaft vibration.

Ride quality on the air suspension is rather different to a conventially sprung car. It's curiously isolated and seems to cope with minor imperfections much better than a earlier steel sprung XJ, but seems far worse on really bad bumps and potholes.
