What a stunning car.

1st impressions.. Colour! Oh dear it's black, never mind but I didn't want plain black. Sun appears and she throws off her black coat to reveal the most stunning glittering purple off all the curves and angles. I can put up with dull for the sensational colour in the sunlight.

NB I will take pics of the amethyst when I get to a sunny location.

Two minor probs on handover. Gearbox problem lights up. Strange as it hasn't been driven yet. Back to workshop to be re - set. Ok off we go, only we don't as seatbelt twisted. Two sweaty salesmen later, they still can't figure it out. Back to workshop. Five mins later I am actually away from the dealer. So much for PDI. Hmmm.

Roof down, the sound is glorious. Love that growl and how smooth it is. Having had an XK and an XF the controls are mostly familiar and intuitive. Into garage to fill up after about 10 miles. As a laugh I take a peek at mpg and pick my jaw up from the floor, average 7.4mpg.

I trust this will improve lol.

Not a full report as haven't done the miles yet but so far everything is plus and all the boxes ticked. Already two positive reactions from strangers. One saying how great it was to see people keeping British manufacturing going and what a beautiful car it is.

I wholeheartedly concur with those sentiments and will bore you all more after I've had the chance to put her through her paces, and yes pics soon as. Promise

Oh and a big hi to Podie and Paul (unrepentant) chums from way back in our TVR days. Nice to see us old timers still here

Id consider resetting the trip. No doubt the car has been left running at some point hence stupidly low average.

It's a lovely colour, but imo too dark - it's very rare to actually get the full purple effect, unless directly in bright sunlight.

Nice choice though. biggrin

Yep, factory test drive and PDI, engine runs for ages without the car moving and leads to silly reading. Smart sales people re-set before delivery. wink

I get 19 from a US gallon with my XKR with normal driving, a bit less when hooning.

Here's a blast from our TVR past Di........

wavey Hi guys especially Joust (not seen you for ages, lovely car)and Paul (unrep)Fond memories of the time that TVR pic was taken.Edited to add that believe me guys Paul really knows how to drive. We followed him over The Dales (is that right Paul? My geography is awful)all the way through to Blackpool. He set a blisteringly enthusiastic pace over some of the greatest twisties and through some of the most fantastic scenery, ending it with chasing down a friendly Porsche from memory. Happy days and one of my most memorable drives.

Apologise profusely re no pics. I have been so busy I havent been to a decent location yet, and as someone mentioned earlier it really needs the right light to make it stand out rather than just be black. I agree it is a shade too dark.

I was purposely hiding as I am off to Wales for a couple of days next week and had hoped to bombard you with some stunning pics then, so please be patient.

Heres a couple of poor pics just to wet your appetite. Only taken to prove its not black.

More to follow, promise.

Di

Hi Riccardo

The interior is Ivory which I love, though will probably need more upkeep to stay looking clean.
