A question for anyone who may have had the experience; Do these V8 cars run well on LPG and if so what economy can you expect? I have heard that fuel economy drops off by at least 20-30%?

Thanks

A well set up system and the economy drop will be more 10-20%. I have a 4.2 xkr on lpg and where I would see 18-20 on petrol I will get 16-18 on lpg at 65p/l. On a m/way run the other week from N wales back to sheffield at a steady 85, I was seeing around 25mpg on gas that was until I left the m/way for some fun over the peak district.

There is conflicting advice about flashlube on these engines. I don't have it fitted as don't a number of others I have spoke to on forums but then some fitters say it is a must. where I got mine converted the guy ran a xk8 on gas with no lube and no problems.

The biggest pain I find is filling up. It takes longer than for petrol and I have the tank in the spare wheel well and only ever get around 46L when I fill up. This gives a range between approx 160-200 miles depending on how I drive. On a long journey unless you want to run on the expensive petrol stuff this means planning where to top up.

Google GoLPG - not heard aything recently so see if they are still in buisness. They attracted quite a lot of attention a few years ago and also at the time had a number of LPG converted V8 cars for sale.
