X Type brakes - full set needed!
Discussion
Evening
Just had my 3 litre sport estate serviced today and was told that the discs had been badly fitted in the past, are now past it and need a full replacement.....
I'm waiting for a quote from the specialist for the work, but have been looking online to steel myself for the shock that lies ahead.
Option 1 Euro Car Parts:
Pagid discs and pads all round: £136.20 delivered
Option 2 EBC Brake Shop:
EBC discs and Redstuff pads all round: £264.33 delivered
I would assume that the EBC option would be the best, the specialist may want to stick to Jag parts and the Pagids are an unknown quantity, but some suggestions and experiences would be welcomed. I was thinking about refreshing the suspension, but that will now have to wait!

To be fair the labour was including sorting out a probable sticking caliper, which would also cost £275 each if they needed replacing.....
I was planning on buying the Pagids then getting a local garage to fit them - I wouldn't trust myself with the brakes on the car my wife uses to ferry our (and other people's) kids around in all day.
What I really wanted was the cost to be so unbearable that I would just have to go out and buy a BRZ instead. Hey ho.

I hate to be rude, but I think they've seen you coming: a quick look on the web suggests that calipers are rather cheaper than that. You might want to talk to them forearmed with a few indicative prices.
I fully agree with your reticence to tinker with the brakes yourself, and would never encourage anyone to undertake a job about which they're not completely confident.
Not entirely, that's why I checked parts prices myself and asked you knowledgeable peeps.I fully agree with your reticence to tinker with the brakes yourself, and would never encourage anyone to undertake a job about which they're not completely confident.
The caliper price was ex vat too, hilariously.
