X308 brake light warning
Discussion
Indicators on both sides cause problem or just one?
Brake light switch may be at fault. Don't assume brake lights working means switch is ok, there's two micro switches inside the switch body and if one gets out of sync with the other due to wear or poor contacts this'll throw up error messages. Try a shot of WD40 in the switch first as it's a right PITA to remove and may be all you need to do. Otherwise replace with known good one.
Check rear light contacts for any signs of damp or corrosion. You may have a connection that has gone high resistance but still working. Sometimes dismantling and refitting and taking the bulbs out and and putting them back in cleans the connections enough to clear fault.
Try two new same brand brake light bulbs too.
All cheap enough to try to see what happens and worth doing even if all you achieve is ruling these suggestions out.

Just one, the o/s, so I'll start there. I'll give the pedal switch a spray of wd40, and I'll go over all contacts with contact cleaner and add a bit of contralube as we'll. I'll get two bulbs as we'll and let you know how I get on.

Worth checking/cleaning the o/s repeater and o/s front indicator contacts too then. Repeater is removed by pushing sideways to expose the spring clip retaining the unit in the wing and front indicator by pushing on IIRC the right hand side of the lens to expose the spring clip on the left (outer) side.
