Cannot believe how cheap insurance is, a huge bonus on top of a superb car which I am considering marrying.

£186 fully comp with some extras for my 2008 4.2 XKR.

ETA - don't marry the car, marry a human of the opposite sex - that made a big difference in my case...

Should have said, I have protected NCB as well. I don't get how these cost so little to insure. I'm "only" 36 and I've only been driving for 5 years too...

Who are you all insuring with or getting these quotes from? I'm £225 for a 1998 XJR on a classic policy. No NCB as these are on my other car.

Well for me it was Privelege, but the variation is enourmous, certain companies supposedly offering specialist Jaguar insurance were £1200 or more. Mine is 12000 miles a year normal social/dom/pleasure with no protected ncd and a high excess, and I am an old git of 46 with 12 years NCD and no points.

I'm with Privilege too. Postcode has a great deal to do with it.

I looked at Privilege. For the TVR it is only £154 which is cheap as chips. The Jag is £335. RH insurance is £225 on the classic policy. I'm a 46 year old, old git too! 11 years NCB on the TVR but none for the Jag.

I am paying more than that for a bloody 10 yr old x type!

My insurance nearly doubled when I started working offshore and only having use of the car for half the year too, wkers.

45 yrs old, 7 yrs no claims, clean license, live in a crime free area in the middle of no where...

No, I expect they think that if i earn offshore wages, I can afford to pay more.

The only other reason for the price increase could be that that offshore workers tend to drink a lot when they come onshore, but you are not insured if you are pissed..

Total rip off...

They may be assuming that the car will be left in an empty house for a few weeks on the trot. I've heard of this before; I live in Aberdeen, I don't work offshore myself but know folk who do and found the same thing.

Bottom line, insurance industry isn't regulated properly and will always find a way to screw more cash out of customers or avoid paying up. Disclaimer - I don't just have the Jag, I have another car I pay far more insurance on than seems fair.

Hastings Direct. Best deal on price vs cover level I found over the last two years. They didn't try it on at renewal time either and they answer the phone quickly when you call.
