That sound system must be standard... I have it too!
No it is a premium extra and is the top level option for that xf generation. It is a 440watt surround sound Dolby prologic system and if the OP is looking to buy is an option I would recomend makin sure it has. One thing to mention tho- the sv8 was the halo car of the xf range at the time and as such most of them are well specc'd. I love mine it ticks everybox for me. Very refined, comfortable and discrete yet fast as an intercontinental missile when there is an opportunity. The relentless surge of the 4.2 supercharged v8 is ridiculous, and coming from BMW M cars for me its so much easier having all that torque to go with the horsepower.
Great cars (and as no-one really knows about them an absolute bargain for what you get!) I would definitely recomend

I've had mine since the beginning of December and it is a lot of car for the money. There are, however, some common faults to look out for:
Mine has some of the above faults currently but the power of the thing just takes over any of the minor issues which can always be fixed! Oh and make sure, if you do buy one, that you have a savings account for it's drinking problem!
Oh and the stereo is the best standard one I've heard. Normally I upgrade mine but this doesn't really need touching! The Sat Nav isn't bad either.
- Deadlock the car (Double press the fob), hand the fob to someone more than 10 feet away and try all of the doors. If one of them opens, and sets the alarm off, then the lock mechanism will need to be replaced.
- Make sure the differential isn't leaking as it's an expensive job to fix.
- The petrol cap mechanism is rubbish so check that works!
- Check the inside of the rear tyres for wear as the car is set-up with negative camber from the factory.
- The rear brakes wear quicker than the fronts due to the stability control (It wheel spins for fun at the slightest hint of wet / cold weather) so check them out.
- The front window regulators on earlier models can throw a wobbly and the anti trap kicks in when the window closes so it goes straight back down!
