Been looking at one of the first v8 s types, it's a very low mileage one. Is this wise due to nikasil and tensioner problems

I'm sure the nikasil issue would have reared it's head by now. If in doubt, get a compression test. And if the tensioners haven't been done, then do them. Negotiate a price reduction accordingly.

I have an early 4.0 V8, it's got some problems in the engine bay but they're slowly being ironed out. Nothing (touchwood) too expensive or tricky, just bits and sts. I figured if it was going to have Nikasil problems they'd have shown up before now so I was happy enough at the price I paid
