New XE will be under £30,000
Discussion
Looks great. Will definitely consider one of these to replace our Audi A4 in a few years.
"Under £30k" sounds a bit bullish, given that the current XF starts at (just) under £30k for the 2.2 diesel. Assuming a four cylinder diesel will be part of the launch range, I would expect (hope) for the range to start at £25k.
Jag might be able to get away with "aspirational" pricing for the F-type, but the 3-series segment is way more cut-throat...

I'm really looking forward to seeing this. I'm especially interested to see what they do with the interior. All of the current Jaguar models have very different interiors, I wonder what this one will be like.
The current XF interior dated very quickly, the new XE will have the interior based on the style of the current XJ. So hopefully very nice.I too am expectant of this car, I hope Jaguar don't stick with the nauseating dripfeeding/teasing of details as they have with the F-Type. Car Magazine said last month that the prototypes hit the road this spring, fully launched in the summer, order books open in October and deliveries in April 2015, we shall see....
Jaguar appear to be focusing on the 2.0D engine, to get that right on launch & go straight head to head with BMW etc. I do however hope they bring out the good stuff in good time... i.e. 3.0D S with all the body kit.

The interior of the XF still feels special and miles better than the all plastic C-Class Mercedes I was also looking at. But I agree, you can certainly date it. Not the only car on the market today that has this problem. I personally hope they took inspiration of the C-X17, which was the only thing I liked about the SUV concept, to be honest.

I personally would be very keen on getting something a bit 'smaller' again. As I find my XF a bit uncomfortably wide on narrow windy roads. Always a bit of a heart beat moment when a lorry comes the other way and I get scarily close to the shrubbery.
Either way, it has to be the 3.0 V6. Sorry but the 4 cylinder just doesn't float my boat, quickly enough, and V8 is just too wasteful in today's world ... at least for a daily drive. It is a lot of fun, but completely unnecessary and I can't help feeling of driving a bit of a dinosaur. (By that I mean like old American Muscle cars.)

Are they doing a 2-dr coupe version....?
Please do Jaguar, and with that dirty sounding supercharged V6 from the F-Type please.....in which case this will be very likely be my next car
In 2009 JLR showed the following images of a XE concept, that turned out to be a roadster, and was pinched as an potential F-Type. Please do Jaguar, and with that dirty sounding supercharged V6 from the F-Type please.....in which case this will be very likely be my next car

With the real F-Type out now, I can't see this to go ahead. But if they would bring out a convertible version ... hmm ...
... but again, highly unlikely. They will have to revamp the XK soon though. Either that or drop it.

And if they do, I have registration V6 JXE on retention, to the highest bidderPlease do Jaguar, and with that dirty sounding supercharged V6 from the F-Type please.....in which case this will be very likely be my next car

Here's hoping.
