Classic car upgrade?
Discussion
Hi all and thought I would share an idea I have been toying with and wondering if anyone has tried this before.
very interested in purchasing an old xj6 jag, either series 2 or 3 and upgrading the mechanics to a more later xj8 either 4.0 or preferably xjr. I know this is a lot of work and there will be undoubted complications but it seems a grand combination of modern day performance and older styling. Any thoughts out there?

To each his own, and I admit to being a bit of a purist, but to me, the XK straight 6 (or of course the V12) is part of the appeal of a Series 2 or 3 XJ. Just buy an X350 XJ8 -- they combine classic styling and modern mechanicals (and structure) straight from the factory. It's what I just did.

Its easier doing it with the AJ6/AJ16 it can (and has) been done many times sucessfully. Most of it is bolt in replacement of parts. However, the later engines are possible too, I've seen a Beacham converted S1 Daimler with the XJR V8.very interested in purchasing an old xj6 jag, either series 2 or 3 and upgrading the mechanics to a more later xj8 either 4.0 or preferably xjr. S3 would be easier as it has all the correct fuel injection pipework in the tanks.
