X - Type scary fault
Discussion
st picked up a X - Type Sport 3.0 v6 manual a couple of weeks ago, all seems well apart from one issue which is causing me a lot of concern...
Quite often when easing off the throttle and braking, usually towards a roundabout, the ABS can be felt kicking through the pedal, even under normal but firm braking on dry roads. Often, the car also cuts out with a TOTAL LOSS OF SERVO ASSISTED BRAKING AND POWER STEERING. This is very concerning when braking down from motorway/nsl speeds towards a junction.
When I bought the car, it had 2 drive shafts replaced because the ABS light was on and the speedo wasn't working. The traction control doesn't work either, or at least the button doesn't work. It drives well otherwise and handles nice on a bend.
Does anyone know how I can rectify this problem as it is very worrying when it happens as I have to turn the key as fast as possible to avoid having an accident.
I'm willing to do some work myself on the driveway if possible, wasn't sure if I need it on a computer to find out whats going on.

Getting yourself a Mongoose tool would help but http://www.jaguarforum.co.uk/f26/ would help more.
You almost certainly either still have a reluctor ring problem or a failed sensor. There is a wealth of specialised knowledge over on the Jag forums though.
Cutting out is a separate issue however - possibly fuel pressure related.

I doubt they're related. Start by checking all the vacuum tubing around the inlet manifold. They tend to go brittle and crack if roughly handled during spark plug or coil changes.
Seriously though - there is far more technical expertise relating to X-Types over at that link I gave you.
