Looking at the prices of early X150 XK's and it looks like I could be in the market for one in a few months. I plan to buy one to keep for a year or so before going back to something more sensible (and economical) one I've ticked the box. I live in North Wales, where the roads are pretty poor so I plan to avoid 20" wheels, but what else should I be looking for ? I do about 15k miles a year if that makes any difference.

I wouldn't rule out the 20" wheels, my 08 XKR has them and the ride is very refined, even on the lousy roads around here. The suspension is up to the job.

Spec-wise, it's pretty much personal choice but personally I wouldn't have bought a car without the front parking sensors, heated front screens and the upgraded B&W stereo system.

Be choosy and take your time, these come up fairly regularly so hold out for one the right price, mileage and spec and you'll find the right car soon enough. Happy shopping.

Had 20" wheels on 2006 XK , used as daily runner and found ride to be extremely comfortable, even on bumpy Cotswold roads round by me.

Check for body corrosion on lower part of rear panels where doors close. Saw a few where both sides had some bubbling of paintwork at 4 years old.

Great cars though.
