What is the cost of a sealed gearbox oil change on a 2000 car. Do I have to go to a Jag garage or can an independant do the job correctly providing he uses the correct oil and new filter. Just a ball park price please of the cost by Jag and Independants, and advice please.

I think you're looking in the £3-400 price range. Depends where you're based. Many good locals around the country.

8 or R? Different gearboxes, the XK8 has a ZF box and the XKR has a Mercedes one.

MB box is easier DIY than the ZF one. MB uses Standard Dexron 3 and the ZF needs specialist Mobil oil.

Both ought to be no more than a hour to hour and a half labour to do Filters about £20

Mine was the 8. I wouldn't say it was easy DIY.

IRO 250 for an indi for 6spd zf around 160 for the kit with correct fluid ZF longlife.

it IS doable DIY however you will need to get the car up in the air preferably on a 4 poster.
