Does anyone know a cheaper option for updating the factory fit sat nav maps on a 2000 W reg S Type. From just searching round on the internet the cheapest seems about £125 for a new Jag CD.

I got mine from eBay. I think you need the Denso type (rather than Alpine) but check with your dealer/current disc first...

Got mine on eBay too. I bought a 2004 DVD (for a 2005 model year car) about 4 months ago for £46 including shipping.

How does £13.95 sound - http://cd-rmedia.co.uk/DVD-R-8.5Gb-Do

Before I left an unnamed Jaguar dealer, I used to copy the Nav DVD's for one of the managers. We gave a few customers free upgrades to keep them happy when the Jags went wrong.

You will just need software that can read and write an ISO image to a duel layer dvd+r. Nav disc is approx 7.3Gb so nomal 4.7Gb disc no good.

I dont have the latest one anymore, but if you can borrow one or something you know what to do.

Not sure I'd go quite that far, it's more like stealing one from a boot that's been left wide open. And doing so in such a way as the owner doesn't notice.
judge I agree however it is stealing.

I do not beleive that a true Jag fan would steal the CD. A chav Jag owner? I do not want to know.

I am looking for a satnav disc for a 2005 Jaguar S Type for Western Europe - can anyone recommend where to get one or to download.
Thanks

Remember that sometime around 2003/4 Jag switched from a CD to DVD based GPS system. The DVD's that people are discussing above WILL NOT WORK in a early CD based system. That I know of NavTech has not produced a new or updated CD for the early S-type system since 1999.

Numerous emails to Jaguar produced the reply that they could not afford to support this system, even though we were told when we bought the cars that the GPS upgrade disks would be updated every year.

I finally gave up and bought an external Garmin GPS.

If you need sat nav discs do not get them from SATNAV Updates. they advertise the discs at £40 but be warned these are cloned discs and they do not work. When you ask for your money back they just ignore you.

I'm surprised TT missed that wink

If you have a CD system you're stuck. No upgrades. Get a TomTom smile

I have a recent disk in my 2007 plate XJR but I still use my TomTom 99% of the time. I only use the JagNav when my Mrs wants to borrow the tomtom.

Jaguar satnav is from the dark ages, even the most modern Jags use the same system - I've recently had use of a brand new XJ and XF , both still have the same Nav system. I still used the TomTom in both cars as its light years ahead and it has decent traffic (HD) and speed cameras.

'Light years' meaning very far away? Far away from what?

Thanks for that link!
Just ordered one for my 2003 STR.

I had upgraded via EBAY from the original to a 2004 disk.
It works but was very scratched and cost more than that with my old one as a part-ex!

So again, thanks!
