Subtly Modified Jags
Discussion
With values reaching the bargain basement bins, I'm starting to consider the idea of playing with the XJR a little. Nothing big-bucks, no engine works or anything like that, perhaps some styling tweaks, perhaps a little bit of a diet(both me and the car) and maybe a few nice custom components that I can make myself for kicks.
So... by way of inspiration, post up some pics of modified jags (particularly saloons), or other similar cars which would be relevent.

Couple of mine for you, not much cosmetically other than lowering and wheels but plenty under the skin:
6litre V12
GAZ adjustable shocks all round
Custom made lowered stiffer springs from 'coil spings (1989) ltd.'
AJ6 engineering tt extractor exhausts
AJ6 super enhanced ecu
K+N filter elements with additional ducting to boxes
Rebuilt heads with new timing chain
Superflex wishbone bushes
All new balljoints, bushes, drop-links and track-rod ends
Stiffer XJR rear A-frame bushes
New genuine discs and mintex pads
Aston DB7 wheels with new tyres
Late XJS front seats mounted on original electric bases.
MOMO steering wheel
Basically I'm trying to create what Jaguar could have done had they made an XJR-XJ12.
Still a work in progress but I have all the bits now, some on and some off the car.
Thing is the XJR is pretty damn fine already so I don't feel there is too much to improve, just freshen up everything that can be freshened up, poly bushes are always good, lowering always looks good but there is not much available off the shelf so custom is the way forward. Exhaust could be made a bit fruitier. Obviously the sky is the limit with engine mods but free flow filters, chip and new supercharger pulleys to up the boost a bit would be a good starting point.
I'm really not keen on body mods to cars like this but I do fancy a bit of a chin spoiler on mine along the lines of the nineties style 7 series Alpina item. Again nothing decent off the shelf so custom is neccessary.
Be good to see some more modded jags on here, keep us posted and good luck!

Have you researched the Chasseur Stealth? One of my absolute favourite cars of all time and a true XJ40 XJR forbear. The bloke behind it is an occasion poster here and a great guy too.Mental cars and good looking too.
They had a few mad features like flat undersides to give downforce without a boot spoiler and reinforced bonded side skirts that (alledgedly) improved torsional rigidity of the shell.
Were they all 6 cylinder? Shame there's no way I could get a pair of turbos under my bonnet!

TWR did make a V12. Here's a pic of the only original one I know of:

The wheels are DB7 just like yours. The body kit is quite different from the later XJ40 one. The kit had actually been removed by one owner in a misguided attempt to 'restore' the car to original, but then hunted down by a later owner who had it put back on.

some aspects of this look good, the wheel arches especially, other bits im not too sure about. Like the front chin spoiler too, interesting to see if it does anything to keep the nose down at speed.

Then theres the Stealth, got to be worth a sniff with that mileage on it!!

I must say that I love a subtly modified Jag, good as it gets!
Here's a couple of pictures of mine, still something of a rolling project. It's a very rare XJ40 3.6L Sovereign with the Getrag 5 speed manual 'box (non-cat and non-sunroof), bought for £500. I've done quite a few mod's to it. Probably the main thing is that I've rebuilt the suspension with uprated dampers, -35mm uprated springs, X300 XJR anti-roll bar, and new bushes where required. I've also swapped in a complete carcoal (black) XJR interior, in place of a tired doeskin (beige) one.
It goes really well, very much an under-rated driving machnine in my biased opinion.

Couple of modified Jags in the fleet
XJR 308 with the 4.2 and other work, sounds awesome, genuinely spotless

Got bored with a £300 Jag, loved this car, sticker on the back "WTF Has he done to that Jag"

Another 308 Paramount Performance, lowered etc. Pics about 5 years old, need some new ones really now it's been mopped and undersealed. Did 204 miles last year

Modified X350 and X300 XJR, but only fiddled about with
Ps I love that XJ40 with the DB7 wheels, great colour too

MyCroftward: Glad to see you lost those R badges and the XKR wheels (Bit OTT)
I drove that on a test drive when it was for sale, have you given it a new clutch?
Small world! Yes, I thought the 18" XKR wheels were a bit much too, I prefer a more period OEM type of modified look. The wheels and tyres were in very good condition though, sold them for £463 on ebay.I drove that on a test drive when it was for sale, have you given it a new clutch?
It certainly needed a new clutch as you rightly say (paid for it with the sale of the wheels effectively), that's one job I didn't fancy and delegated to a garage. It's had various fettling and bits here and there. Had some new paint lashed on in places, the lacquer had gone on the roof and drivers side front wing. I don't mind doing the work as I bought it as a project, it's slowly getting there.
On the XKR wheels after I'd fitted the shorter springs:
