I have a yr2000 XKR, when locking or unlocking the alarm sounds a confirmation chirp. I know its not on all XKs. anybody know how to kill this noise?

It might be a job for the dealers who can do all sorts of stuff with the security system.

Wallet out time, yet again. frown I know the keyfobs can be programmed with a sequence of key and lights flashing, I was hoping to hear of a similar sequence for this confirmation beep thing.

Sorry it is part of the dealer options set up on their PC system. You can of course just disconnect the sender, mine packed up so even with it enabled no chirping

OK, dealer it is frownfrown (again) funny my sounder also packed up a while back, blissfully quite when locking/unlocking but of course its also quiet when some oik decides to nick it.... The sounder is dead easy to replace though, just over €100 from a main stealer...

Instead of a main dealer, just find an independent with the full Jag Diagnostic system. Will be a lot cheaper.

Can i ask why the tiniest of noises is annoying you? is it not just a beep when you lock/unlock the car? sounds a little pinickity to me, getting annoyed over that.

Its not a tiny noise, its rather loud but the worst part is the stick I get from my office staff who predominantly drive german cars that dont have the beep, apparently confirmation beeps were used in the 1980s & 1990s by flash gits who wanted to show the world how flash they were with their nice car alarm....

Went to my main dealer to get this disconnected but they would'nt do it, saying it was part of the security system, doh i knew that but just wanted the beep gone ,
i would try an independant with a diagnostic set up as said previously ,
have just put up with mine as i don't find it that annoying, was just trying to help the neighbours at 5.30 in the morning biggrin

Flip, you need a new dealer, Give Jag head office a whinge. I dont have any independants I know of anywhere even close (Luxembourg) I should have thought if you were paying the dealer would do the job. I've seen plenty with this beep turned off. Not too worried about the neighbours, its the constant ribbing from the guys at work. Every time I point out how much better the Jag is coared to their assorted Audis, Mercs and BMs I get the same stick about the ancient poseur alarm frownfrown
