Hello,

Have been looking at X Types on Autotrader (when it works) and with my budget of £5k there seems to be quite a few options available! Mostly 2.1 or 2.5 cars.

I'm really after a 3 litre but the 2.5 examples do appear to be noticeably cheaper. How great is the difference in terms of performance?

Is 5k for a sorted 3 litre X realistic?

Leather is a must, as is a generic colour. I'm also quite particular about avoiding an old mannish interior likes the ones I've seen on a few of the adverts. All black is what I want ideally.

Any other tips for potential X type buyers, general comments on these cars are also welcome!!

Thanks very much,

Chris

Don't buy the 2.1ltr it's awful. Yes, you can buy a 3.0ltr for £5k, I sold mine for that much 2 years ago! Go for the 'Sport' with a manual gearbox. They are hard to come by, but stick with it.

I have a 3.0l Sport Manual and it's an excellent car. Bought it for £6k 18 months ago, direct from Jaguar, with 32k miles on the clock.
