A known problem with the 2.0 diesel X type is internal pump failure. A Jaguar bulletin was issued for the 04 models onwards, thought you ought to be aware of some of the issues caused buy the pump particles .This vehicle at 60k plus miles is not high mileage. The factory bulletin recommends changing everything including injectors,as the debris from the pump is ground small and gets clogged in every orifice in a very short time. The job, to be done, correctly, should entail removal of the fuel tank and swirl pot, together with a flush . Thats` not included in the bulletin, amazingly.
We found the debris had infact got everywhere, rubbery sludge included in the return at the swirl pot aswell. Should you experience this problem I would stongly recommend the tank removal and pay the extra monies needed to do so.

As someone with an 06 35k miler, should I be worried about this?

Whats the solution? Change the pump before it turns up its toes?

Low sulphur diesel???? .I don`t think so.
There was just a bad batch of fuel pumps suffering with internal roller failure .There is a sensor on the fuel pump that senses poor or miss fueling, water in the fuel , even petrol , debris etc. When triggered it illuminates an engine warning light. This is followed by poor performance/ and eventual failure.
Accountants cheapening a good product again.Don`t panic, but I would suggest at the next major service, tank removal and check / clean out the swirl pot. You will be surprised at the debris in there, from the forecourts. Water and general detritus that can find its` way past the filter will shorten your pump life. So be prudent, have the tank cleaned especially if you have a high miler and make sure that diesel filter is changed at the prescribed intervals.
