Hi all,

I am thinking of buying the following wheels

Does anyone have any experience of fitting these to an 1989 XJ? I would only do it if they went straight on

1989 XJ will take any wheel diameter from 15" up. You'll need to make sure the offset is the same on the XK and XJ or you'll rip your tyres to bits.

Google TRC Tyre Calculator to check rolling radius and confirm any speedo error from the swap.

You do know you'll ruin the ride quality with fat alloys and low profile tyres don't you? Check the comfort index on TRC to see if you can live with the change.

I know that the tire sizes differ front to back on an XK, on an XJ they are all the same, not sure about whether the wheel size differs tho..

I looked at an XJ40 with 17inch X300 alloys on many moons ago. It looked okay and they bolted straight on, but the front inner arches had to be cut away to give acceptable steering clearance - it was still slightly restricted from normal.

Ride quality seemed perfectly acceptable still.

Update- they will bolt on no probs but it needs 8J's all round to be perfect, might still go for them as £150 (current bid) is very very cheap!!

I refurbished double five wheels and today finally put the tyres on, to have the same dia of the wheel as original 225,60,16 I went 245/45/18 front and rear. Fronts are 8J, rears 9J. 245 is wides You can go for front anyway but rear will accept 265 without problems with clearance.

I was considering 2 options : Asteroids or Double FIve but they came for sale month ago I couldn`t let them go. Therer are few other options for x300`s , E39 non m5 have exactly the same fitting apart from eing 5x120 (not 120.65)

SO the answer to OP , if You can fit standard size wheels form x300 to xj40 then xk8/xkr wheels will fit even with xkr tyres (245 F and 255 R)
