It has been far too long, but am finally going to be back in a Jaguar! party

After selling our S-Type R, to downsize for a while, we have had a few cars but none have given me the same overall fun and 'user experience' that you get with a Jag! So I decided to take the plunge and am trading in my current car and am buying a 2004 Jaguar XJR (X350)!
It is an immaculate example, well looked after, full service history and low miles. cloud9

I am due to collect it on Sunday morning, and will post some pics when I get it home!!

Can't wait!!

Good choice - I did the same downsizing/downgrading thing after I sold my X350 XJR (lovely car) and 18 months later I'm now back in a Jag
What colour and options?

I am glad it's not just me as have driven my wife loopy saying I want to change my car!!!!!

Its Platinum Silver, with the Warm Charcoal leather (with red contrast stitching).

It has all the options including sunroof, DVD Sat Nav uprated Alpine sound system, only thing it doesn't have is the rear entertainment set up (But not fussed as a: we don't have kids and b: I don't plan on sitting in the back!!) I have to collect it from the garage in Manchester on Sunday morning, so am looking forward to the drive home!

I am getting a few mods done as soon as funds will allow, including:
  • A full Milltek cat-back exhaust
  • Black Radiator Mesh Grille + Black Lower Mesh Grille
  • Pulley upgrade and remap (and de-limit)
  • Lowered uprated suspension set up (made a hell of a difference to my XKR and S-Type R)
  • US Spec (red) front and rear side marker lenses
  • Clear side repeaters
Scott

Plus if I have a good year (commission-wise), I will be investing in a set of the Arden Sportline Alloys - either 19" or 20" subject to whichever will give the best ride quality. (Just don't tell my wife what they cost, but they look amazing!!!!!!)

Doing fairly well thanks, although still recovering from accident at work back in May 2009. The first meet seems to be on the 21st March at Bletchley Park.

Scott,

What sort of impact does that have on your insurance?

Quite like to do something similar to my S-Type R.

Apart from the S Type I also have a Saab 9-3 Aero Rag Top which has the Hirsch re-map and lowered suspension.

The insurance company didn't bother too much about the re-map, but they took a deep breath when the suspension was mentioned.

'Apparently' statistically people who lower their suspension only want to drive faster round corners, and as a result have more accidents!

In their opinion it's never done just to improve the look and the feel of the car!

What do they know?

Hope you enjoyed your drive back on Sunday
We need to see some pictures!

Also, given the car has air suspension, does that make it easier to lower the ride height? I vaguely remember thinking about doing this to mine at one point.

It increases the premium a little but nothing too drastic! Although I am getting on now........................

Alas no, unfortunately the air suspension makes it more expensive to lower, as its a more time consuming job. But when done it can be dropped up to 30mm. I will leave lowering for the time being, as there are other bits I want to do first.

However, my first "extra" has been fitted on the opposite side of the bootlid to the XJR badge........

Loving the car so far, very comfy and bloody quick!!

I am also amazed by the fuel consumption I am getting. I went up to Nottingham and back yesterday, the average MPG figure was 27.8 MPG??? (My R32 Golf would have done about the same).

Much better than I was expecting! thumbup

Scott

PS: Will post some pics over the weekend as soon as I have a chance to take some, but heres one from the advert:
