Now then, the boot release button on the boot plinth has decided not to get involved in the action any more.

The keyfob button works, as does the internal release button, just not that one, so assume all the solenoid etc are OK, and it is a fault with the button itself. Which is no bad thing, as the logo on it has gone a bit cloudy and so could do with replacing.

So, do I get at it from the inside, or is there a way of accessing it externally? I'd quite like to replace the Jaguar badge on the left hand side while I'm there, so assume that needs the lid trim stripping to get access to behind it?

TIA!

No idea on button issue I'm afraid, but I'd imagine that the trim is stuck on like on most cars. I believe the best method of removal is through the application of a hairdryer and dental floss

I've had similar problems, mine generally sorts itself out. See what happens when the warmer weather comes.
