It is the only application of these bloody Christmas lights which actually looks ok.
There was a black/black XF-S outside yesterday with the Aerodynamic pack - ie Black grille, LED's, sills and spoiler. Apart from that it seemed to be a straight XF Luxury. It looked absolutely stunning. The colleague I was with commented that it looked about 70k's worth and it did. He was astonished when I said he could probably get an identical one new for around £32k. And that's for a car with 600 n/mm and one of the best TT boxes on earth.
It's astonishing value for money.

That was always a key part of the Jaguar magic.Grace, Space and Pace but at a fraction of many of their rivals prices.
OK, you aren't going to see them at a 1/3 the price of the equivalent Aston or Ferrari again but it is good to see that they are again being viewed as good value.
So what are your thoughts on a new XJ Supersport retailing at £90k. IMHO, I think that is quite expensive, gorgeous as it maybe, it is still just a 4 door saloon, has none of the electronic wizardry of an MB or Bimmer, like enhanced vision, head up display etc.
When you can get an XF-S for £40k or an XFR for £60k it just seems a too big a jump to get an XJ with the same spec as an XF?

I'm not so sure that the new XJ will be as unsophisticated as you suggest, and some might feel that some of the Merc 'wizardry' like keyless go, head up display, and cylinder shut down are gimmicks for gimmicks sake. Unlike some Jaguar led gimmicks like adaptive suspension and Adaptive Cruise which are genuinely fantastic. You will struggle to find a better equipped car for the money than the basic XF - are they really going to drop the ball with the XJ?
In addition, I think that we are seeing the effects of both inflation and of a long overdue adjustment in relative currency values. The pound sterling is headed for the toilet. So is the Euro of course but will Germany stay in the Euro if it is basically the only country picking up the tabs? WWII was bad, but hey guys?! The new Porsche 997 Turbo S is £123k. That's just another way of telling us in the UK to adjust our idea of Porsche prices. Maybe £90k won't seem as much, at least to customers in Germany and the US. Export or die?
