My 2001 XKR Coupe has developed a problem with the drivers window dropping 1/4" on opening door and rising back to normal on closing the door.

So far I've tried the reset procedure; window down, hold for a couple of seconds until quiet click, same on the up stoke. Didn't work.

Tried full battery disconnect for 30 minutes. Didn't work.

Indy has just fitted a door catch micro switch and it's still doing the same.

Anyone got any other suggestions as to the cause or could it need a trip to the stealer for a diagnostic check.

Check the charge on the battery, even the slightest drop from normal can cause gremlins...

Thanks Triple. I had heard that.

Just had a call from the Indy and by process of illimination he has identified a faulty door module. He swapped the passenger one with the drivers one and the fault crossed to the other side of the car. New module ordered from Jag at £170.....kerching. At least it's better than a regulator at £500+yikes

Interestingly both door modules were date stamped 2007 which, considering it's a 2001 car, seems odd. They have obviouly been replaced before but a 2-3 year life expectancy. What do they make them from........cheese.

are you sure its a fault? many cars with framless windows will drop the glass a touch when you pull the door handle and close it again when the door shuts. its to help provide a better seal to the glass my old mans merc dose it.

Sorry hoppo. My original question was a little unclear.

I realise they are supposed to drop a little on opening and they do. They are also supposed to go back up on closing the door and they don't. The cause was the door module.

I'm pleased to say I found a Jag breaker about 4 miles from home who advertises on eBay. First item that appeared as a result of my search was a door module for £25. Quick call and visit to his yard and I have a door module for a fraction of the stealer cost....and the best thing is it's sorted the problemclap
