There is a interesting readers car featured, its a cat d, stripped out interior, replaced auto box with a T56 six speed manual, engine gets Jenvey throttle bodies, a lot of the bodywork to be replaced with composite parts.

Really like the sound of this car, some of the early XK8's are quite cheap now and look the part as they are, wouldn't mind a fairly standard one just with the six speed manual conversion, bet that would make a fabulous GT.

Was just wondering if the car in Practice Performance Car is being built by anyone on Pistonheads?

I haven't seen the article but by the sounds of it it could be Tony's from Paragon Design near Norwich
His is a track car so all the old engine ECU has come out etc

I'm developing a manual gearbox kit for the XK8/R for road use, hope to have it ready sometime later in the year

Interesting, is that based on a t56, t5 or something else? what kind of price range would this kit be?

At the moment I'm only going to say that the gearbox will take the power of a XKR and more for those that are getting more power from their cars like me.

It will have the correct ratios so no messing with the diff, unless you want a LSD in it, that also I can supply and fit.
The clutch will be man enough also to take the power as well as a new flywheel.
The main problem, but we think this is sorted, just got to test, is to fool the engine ECU that the original gearbox ECU is still there

Pricing has still to be fixed as there is still a lot of odds n sods to complete but I'm hoping the full kit will be in the region of £5,000 (£6,000 max) plus VAT. Labour initially by ourselves untill any problems are sorted should come out at something like £1,000 (£1,500 max) plus VAT

I see you are in the Surrey region, where, you can PM me if you wish, I'll give you my phone number and can have a chat.
