Evening all.

I've had a hankering for an XJR (x350) for a while.

But the Mondeo, now passing 90k is just so useful, I'm worried about one or two aspects.

Boot size. I know its long, but the mondeo with 1 rear seat or two folded is huge. Would something like skis fit in the jag? I had an Audi S6 saloon, and while its boot was long, I couldn't fit them in the boot.

I'm not expecting it to be as practical, but will I find it a problem?

Am I being insane to consider changing a car that manages 40-45mpg and is still capable of a cracking A road drive for a [clarkson]5000 foot long, can't go past a petrol station, jaaaaaaag? [/clarkson]

Basically, I think I need to man up, and go for it. Convince me!!!

Cheers for any advice/criticism! smile

I have a x350 xjr, it won't do 40-45 mpg, you need the diesel for that, it'll do 30 on a motorway run at 70, but plan for low 20s

there was an option for ski hatch on the 350s but i don;t think it was popular, get the roof rack, it comes off completely and has modular sections to it can be just a roof rack, a bike rack a ski rack, that way it's there when you need to carry your skis but not the rest of the time

it'll glide effortlessly in complete comfort, i've done 600 miles in a day and got out totally chilled and relaxed at the end, but at the same time put your foot down here the supercharger whine and hit licence loosing speeds far too quickly, something that big shouldn't move like that

Thanks chaps, I knew I needed some encouragement. smile

I wouldn't expect much better than 20mpg, but that's the price for the performance. I would consider an LPG conversion, as I would do 25k per annum (probably nearer 30) and if the car reliable, keep it 3/4 years.

Anyone done here done that?
