Had to have a laugh at my brother who has an S Type and insisted it had to go to Jaguar for their specialist diagnostics att he above rate.

Is this the usual rate? Much more expensive than local BMW dealers.

Sounds about right, my local main dealer charges £120 per hour (Stratstone Perth. I now use a good local garage at £45 per hour.

A car greater than 5 yrs should go to an independant IMHO.

Labour rates seem to be based on your ability to pay. I discovered my Range Rover Sport has a higher labour rate than my Disco 3! It's the same car mechanically!

I agree

A good Indy will charge between £50 - £60 an hour

And have the enthusiasm to do the job properly

That is a lot of money!

You anywhere near Melksham? I know a good small indy garage near there that does a lot of Jaguars.

If you’re near Swindon then James at Premier is a jag specialist (01793 686075) he has done work on my jags over the past few years and is pretty good. Usually when I go there is a SIII or a MK II on the ramps plus the modern stuff. If you do go to James mention my name (Neil with the blue XKR that’s crap in the snow!)

I’ll echo what Norman said, never used Tom but have heard great things about him. All depends where you are in Wiltshire.

If the above are no good and your somewhere else in Wilts I can contact one of the JEC guys and ask for you.

Thanks guLive in Swindon, work in Amesbury, so Melksham is a bit off route.

Swindon main dealer has given me excellent sercice, but as the car is coming up to 5 years old, I think it may be time to reduce hourly rates, as possibly more hours may be needed!

Will look into James @ Premier.

Do you know where in Swindon they are?

Thanks again
