I have 2002 plate X type 2.5 V6 and have lost my dipped beam, I have checked various fuses and relays and cant solve the problem, it all came about when I switched on the de mist and then the lights, main beam and everything else works. I have not yet tried the bulbs as thouigh as they both went out at once it would be a fuse. If any one out there could help I would be gratfull.

Could be the bulbs , mates pajero lost both dip beams ,tried fuses etc.
Bit of digging on internet forum suggests when one bulb went it somehow gave a slight over voltage to other one and blew that as well
sound daft I know but both bulbs had blown

Yep, that's more common than you'd guess at too as I had the same happen on my Beemer once.
When you consider bulbs start out as a pair and are often replaced as a pair, the other bulb is just as tired as the one which just gave up the ghost and a little extra oomph is enough to kill it
