Ok, so it's not an XJR.
Just bought a 2004 XJ6 3.0. Picking it up on Wednesday.
Bowled over by smooth refinement.
Keeping the Boxster for weekend early morning fun. Looking forward to the commute in the cruiser.
No reason for the post other than my excitement and the opportunity to be told I have bought the wrong car!!
I have been bugging people on the Range Rover, Porsche and Jag forums for a few weeks now. So, having made a decision, that should stop for a while at least...
And as a thanks to Jaguar Steve for top advice which prevented me buying an X308 Sport with every fault he listed, cheers mate !

Call me old fashioned,
but IMHO the X308 with the known issues sorted is the better car, much much prettier, for me the X350 was the start of the morphing process that has brought us to the XF and the new XJ shapes. While I can appreciate they are a nice place to be looking out from, they don't look like Jaguars.
Ok I'l get my coat

That's a little unkind. I think the X350 still looks like a Jaguar. It is just that it looks like one that has suffered from middle aged spread. Gone is the svelte cat like form a Jaguar should have. They should be lithe not dumpy.Ok I'l get my coat
Guess that is what happens when you let customer focus groups loose on your design.
So tell me Mr&Mrs Customer, we're designed a new Jagwaaaaaaar, what do you think?
Do you like the styling. "Yeah we love the styling, don't you mess with the style"
So is there anything you'd like to see change?
"Well, we could do with some more space, that would be good"
errrrr....
"And can we have some more head room"
ummmmmmmmm....
"It's a bit low and you know what, my knees ain't what they once was, so how about it ain't quite so low to the damn ground"
yeahhhhhhhhh
"But just don't you mess up the styling boy"
other than that I'm with you, X300/308 is the best looking saloon car the world will ever see. Modern regs won't ever allow that look back into production.
An XFR looks impressive in the rear view mirror, particularly in black. That has a good amount of presence. Still doesn't have that "F
k off out of my way peasant" sort of presence that a wide bodied Virage/Vantage has mind.a8hex said:

Agree, tried to persuade my missus that the XFR was the way to go. But she knows me and cars and has said that the XFR just doesn't have that 'something' to make me want it enough. The new XJ mind you, phwoaaar.....

OK, I'm with you on this one, and so is my wife which is why we went for an '02 XJR-100 rather than an '03 X350 for similar money. Just something missing... (her words, not mine).Jim
