s type key no longer working?

Hi all
I started a thread here a while ago with this problem. Unfortunately due to family issues I had to leave it for a while.
Car parked up fine, now after recharging the battery I have no fuel pressure.
When reconnecting the battery or disarming the alarm the fuel pump "primes" and I have fuel pressure. Once the key goes in and turns it fires briefly but no more. Then there is no longer any fuel pressure.
I have VERY limited funds, I have managed to save about £200 to fix this but this took me over 6 months to do!
So is there any way to remind the car that the (only!) key I have belongs to it. Or is this not likely to be the cause? Are Jag likely to be able to fix this mobile? Or will I have to have the car towed to my nearest jag agent?

Anyone? I'm not saying it's definitely the key that is at fault I am mostly spitballing! I just can't understand why the fuel pump will prime the system but not run to run the engine!
I am loathed to try to get diagnostics done on it as I have such a small amount of money that if they use it all up plugging it in to the laptop, I'll have to spend the nest six months saving up for repair. All I actually want to do is sell it!

If its not reading the key there will be a red LED flashing somwhere, think its ontop of teh dash, but could be down by the j gate, its been a long time since I worked on them now.
If its not reading the key it will at the very least need reprogramming to the car, but perhaps more likely the reader coil in the ignition lock might need replacing.
Can you hear and does the electronic steering lock release when you put the key in??
Your really going to need to get that diagnosed propperly I'm afraid, there are just so many things to test and you need to talk to the car (with the Diag computer) to get most of the answers.
