Snap. And no it seems there isn't - I looked at eBay offerings but although you may be able to reprogramme the rear part to the car, the key must physically fit your car, and I'm told the key also has a chip in it. Try to use the wrong one and your car cries 'rape' and gets towed to the dealers to have its modules changed at a cost of £allyermoney.

My £200 key is due by Friday frown

ETA you could possibly get a s/h rear part and ask the dealer to do the rest, but for the money saved I'd rather have a brand new fob and a guarantee it will work.

Hi,

Not entirly correct, we can program both fobs and keys, only requirement for the key programming is that at least two keys are present. I'm not sure what the current cost of a cut key and fob from a dealer is as they fluctuate a bit, we normally order the keys on chassis number from HA Fox Jaguar so they come pre cut to the car and then carry out the programing, we charge half an hour for programing(regardless of number of fobs/keys) that equates to £29.00 + VAT + Parts. We are an independent specialist based in Derby if that helps you out.

Have never known any modules needing to be changed, you can clear all lost keys/fobs from the memory, reflash the unit and start from scratch with new keys/fobs.

crispian22,

Sorry if not clear, we need the car on site and two keys, as long as the keys are cut for your locks then we can program them to the car.

So we could order you a new key and fob from Jaguar (or you could do this yourself) from chassis no. this will come cut to the locks, you then drive up with the car and we can program the new key to the car while you wait.

As a side note to anyone with just one key, for the car to function two keys MUST be programmed into the cars security system, this means that somewhere someone must have a key which would fit and fully opperate your vehicle. When we program new keys we remove all the key memorys and reprogram both to the vehicle, this renders the 'lost' or 'missing' key inactive, allthough it would still turn the locks of course.

crispian22 if you want a price for us to supply the key/fob as well as program them on site then let me know.

Regards

Which comes to the same thing as the dealer is doing for me, but you might be able to pass on some of the savings from your trade price.

IIRC (dealer prices) it's £95 for the back part of the key, £65 for the front part and £10 for programming on site, plus VAT = £200.
